The cherries fair dates from the 14 Th century and takes place every year on the first saturday of June whereas the summer festival takes place on the second week-end of August.
Cigarettes and newspapers can be bought in the “bar-tabac”, meals are served in the restaurant and wood-baked bread can be provided at the local baker’s so as “brioches aux pralines” a delicious speciality.
A folk dance group “La Tarantelle” and a choir “Mélodie” are often on the stage to entertain the villagers.

CLEPPE

 Cleppé,

Cleppé

A lovely village, prettily situated by the left bank of the river Loire, 6 kms far from Feurs.

The restored tower is the last remains of a castle dating from 1452 and named “Le Versailles des Comtes du forez”. If you are brave enough to climb up the 93 steps, 22 meters high, a wonderful panoramic view on les Monts du Lyonnais, the plain du Forez, the river Loire and les Monts du Soir, can be enjoyed from the top.

The Roman church dating from 1000 is opened to visitors. You’ll be very happy if you are fond of old places.

The foot-path allows lovely trips across the woods, then along the river-side for about two hours and a half during which you’ll have the opportunity of meeting wild ducks and deers. Nice food will be provided, frog, legs or fried fish straight from the Lignon in the two restaurants in the place called “Naconne” just when you arrive in the village

CHAMBEON

 Chambéon,

Chambéon is a small village with a population of 400 inhabitants that nestles in the very heart of the Forez plain, in the middle of a triangle linking the towns of Montbrison, Feurs and Montrond-les-Bains.

It is close to two slip roads leading to the A72 – from Montbrison, 10 km away and from Feurs, 9 km away.

There is a restaurant, where you can also buy bread, newspapers and groceries, and which is open every day of the week.

The Forez Ecopôle, located along the banks of the Loire on a 400 ha site, attracts many nature-lovers who will be impressed by the design and the rich flora and fauna that have developed naturally, thanks to rigorous technical and financial management by the FRAPNA.

The Forez Air Club boasts a spectacular setting, with well-developed facilities and a surface area of 85 ha, located on the left bank of the Loire River and that overlaps into Feurs and Chambéon.

The air club is open to all, flyers and non-flyers. It has 160 members, divided into three sections: light passenger planes, microlights and model planes. The village owns two sites, one of which is 27 ha. and has a 20 ha lake created recently by a quarry works, and which is not far from the village and close to sports facilities. There are plans to develop tourist activities around this lake in the near future. This project is managed by the local authority with support from the Feurs en Forez district authorities.

Come and visit Chambéon, our friendly little village, where the shops and clubs always extend the warmest of welcomes.

The village fair is held over the 1 st weekend in August.
